Madison Irving was elected to the Henrico School Board in November 2023 and is serving his first term as the representative of the Three Chopt District. He is committed to uplifting public education and addressing unjust criticism of teachers and educational programs.
Growing up with both of his parents as teachers and school administrators, Irving initially didn’t plan to follow in his parents’ footsteps. After earning a Bachelor of Science in finance from Virginia Tech, he worked as a financial planner. However, a passion for teaching and learning led him back to Virginia Tech, where he earned a master’s in education.
Irving began his career as an educator in Henrico County, teaching economics and personal finance at Varina and Hermitage high schools before accepting a teacher and football coach position in Chesterfield County. Irving is a Virginia Education Association member and teacher-leader serving as chair of his school’s career and technical education department.
Irving said his firsthand experience as a teacher and parent motivated him to run for the school board. His primary focus is to empower teachers and staff, understanding that their success directly impacts the success of their students.
Irving and his wife, Taylor, are the parents of a preschool-aged daughter who will one day attend Henrico Schools. You can follow Madison Irving on Facebook and Instagram: @Irving4ThreeChopt.
